Five Picturesque Fly Fishing Lakes

We have five lovely fly fishing lakes that are nestled on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and are fed from the River Tavy. This Lovely fresh water keeps our weed growth to a minimum and our oxygen levels high. This explains how we are able to grow lovely specimen trout that are fighting fit, with good tails and taste good!

  • Our fly fishing lakes opened in 1991 and have been popular ever since.
  • Our lakes are stocked most days with Triploid Rainbow Trout and every week with Triploid Brown Trout, Tiger trout, Blue trout and Golden Trout.
  • Our Record Rainbow at the time of printing stands at 31lbs-11oz and our Record Brown is 16lb-4oz.
  • Complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits in our fly angler’s tearoom, with a tackle shop, angler’s fridge, parking and toilet on site.

What our guests and anglers say

“Absolute fly fishing heaven on earth. Beautiful cottage I stayed in for a long weekend. Gavin the fly fishing tutor had me casting like a pro within 30 minutes. And last of all the host Abi made me feel so welcome. I was sad to go home. I will definitely be returning for a week next time. The place is like a 2nd home.”

“First rate tutoring by Gavin and first rate hosting by Ab. Me and my lad have never fly fished before (other stuff, yes) and had one of the most memorable days learning to fly fish and catching fish!. Such a lovely place. Grab a bite to eat or a pint at the Trout and Tipple...first class.”

Since October 1989

From trout ponds and marsh land to five fly lakes

When I moved here there were just trout ponds and an area of marsh land but no fishing lakes or holiday lets. In 1991 when the fishery first started we only stocked rainbow trout. Over the years different types of trout have arrived on the fishery.

Over the years I have slowly added new accommodation to the fishery and we now proudly boast four lovely detached stone barn conversions, three gorgeous apartments in a large converted stone barn and two beautiful attached log cabins beside our fly lakes.

Here at my home I feel it is important to provide you with a lovely holiday that is special for all the right reasons, from the moment you arrive, to the time you have to leave! I will do my best to answer the fishery phone immediately and reply to all emails within one hour.
