The fishery
Fly fishing on five lakes fed from the River Tavy
Osprey, Kingfisher & Heron Lakes are stocked with rainbow trout, sparctic trout, tiger trout, golden trout, blue trout and brown trout from 1.5lbs with rainbows to very big!

On site
Complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits are available in our fly angler’s tearoom. Tackle shop, angler’s fridge, parking, and toilet are also on site.
Early Morning Fishing
During the summer months, early morning fishing is available and all anglers fishing early must fill in a self-service permit at the office before fishing. No upgrading permitted, only extra fish and new permits allowed. Minimum ticket required to fish before 8am is a Three Fish permit.
Staying with us?
Guests staying in our on-site holiday accommodation are welcome to fly fish ‘every’ day of their holiday if they would like to, even when we are closed. Email abigail
The lakes
King Fisher, Osprey, Big Osprey and Heron
Fed from the River Tavy, this lovely fresh water keeps our weed growth to a minimum and our oxygen levels high. This explains how we are able to grow lovely specimen trout that are fighting fit, with good tails and taste good!

Stocking The Lakes
All triploids
‘All’ our Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Golden Trout, Blue Trout and Tiger Trout are Triploids and this means that they are not male or female and that they will remain in good condition all year round. The males will not fight and the females will not get egg bound!
Our lakes are stocked most days with Triploid Rainbow Trout and every week with Triploid Brown Trout, Tiger trout, Blue trout and Golden Trout.
The fishery also has an active collection of natural wildlife varying from Kingfishers, Otters, and Herons.
Learn to Fly Fish
Lessons with a qualified casting instructor
You may wish to take the opportunity to enjoy learning the necessary skills, and correct techniques from a qualified fly fishing and casting instructor.
For the experienced or well taught fisherman/woman, one to one fly casting or fly fishing lesson provides an ideal opportunity to improve not only your fly-casting technique, but your overall, river or stillwater fly fishing skills.
Our qualified casting instructors are available for you to book for a minimum of two hours. The charge includes two hours tuition, full day 4 fish permit on all our fly lakes and hire of rod, reel, net, flies, line, priest, bag, net and glasses to protect your eyes. Free tea/coffee making facilities and a choice of complimentary biscuits are also included in our wooden lodge overlooking our stunning lakes.
EA licence needs to be purchased from the EA or a Post Office.

School Booking Discounts
Schools qualify for a reduced rate for a minimum of 10 plus children at only £20/child. This includes rod hire, 4 hours fishing and a 1 fish permit & demo/help (30 mins).
Corporate Days & Weekends
We can cater fully for corporate events with our own accommodation sleeping up to 30 people, our stunning pub The Trout ‘n’ Tipple and our beautiful fly fishing lakes! Regulations
- 1.Any item broken or lost from the hire kit MUST be purchased from our tackle shop & replaced before you leave. Thank you. Fly fishing hire kit includes rod, reel, net, priest, bag, polarized glasses, fly box, disgorger and spool of line.
- 2.Any person caught stealing will be prosecuted.
- 3.No static fishing other than by dry fly.
- 4.Flies to be single or tandem only.
- 5.Fish may not be caught for other fishermen.
- 6.Taking fish from the stew ponds is not permitted.
- 7.The management reserve the right to hold random spot checks.
- 8.Hooks must have barb.
- 9.All fish caught must be weighed and recorded.
- 10.All anglers must carry and use a landing net.
- 11.Well behaved dogs are allowed on a lead when an angler is fishing
- 12.Extra fish must be purchased before you catch them.
- 13.Please report to the management any abuse of the fisheries regulations.
- 14.You will be asked to leave the fishery by the management for any infringement of the above. No refund will be given.
- 15.No catch and release, unless on Mallard/brown trout lakes.
